Here’s The Real Reason Ariana Grande Was Cast In Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up’

In late 2021, Netflix finally released its highly anticipated sci-fi drama/satire Don’t Look Up. The film boasts a cast that includes several Hollywood heavy hitters, led by Leonardo DiCaprio (who nearly turned down the role), Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep.

Not to mention, the cast also includes the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, and rising star Timothée Chalamet.

After watching the film, however, many fans have come to agree that the real star of the movie is really singer/actress Ariana Grande.

In Don’t Look Up, Grande plays pop star Riley Bina. She may not have that much screen time in the movie, but the singer/actress leaves quite an impression. And while many have come to praise Grande’s performance in the film, there’s also a great deal of interest in how she ended up getting cast in Don’t Look Up.

In a movie that features several of Hollywood’s A-list actors, did Grande have to audition for her own role?

Ariana Grande Has Deactivated Her Twitter Account

Ariana Grande‘s gone missing on Twitter.

The 28-year-old Sweetener pop superstar deactivated her official Twitter account as of Friday (December 24).

“This account doesn’t exist. Try searching for another,” her official @arianagrande account now reads.

Fans are now debating on Twitter about whether this is a tease for a new music era, or is just Ariana taking a little break from social media for the holidays.

She just recently took to the stage during The Voice finale to perform “Just Look Up” from her new movie, Don’t Look Up.

Don’t Look Up was first released in select theaters on December 10, and is now available to stream on Netflix as of December 24.

Here’s a synopsis of the movie: Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem — it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical — what will it take to get the world to just look up?! Watch the trailer!
